The military rank of Chugen appointed to medieval Japanese soldiers was a rank of assistant otherwise known as "in-between" another term for beginner. The Tom Lee range of Chugen katana reflects this grade in the introductory level samurai sword.
Hand forged high carbon steel blade featuring a bo-hi (fuller/groove) the Tom Lee Tetsu katana, with blackened tsuba depicting two entwined dragons. The black tsuka ito (handle wrapping) is complemented with white sam'e gawa (ray skin) and secured with two bamboo mekugi (pegs) through the nakago (full tang).
Includes Free black cloth sword bag, free red patterned box. Please note the sword stand pictured is for illustartion purposes only.
The solid wood saya (sheath) is finished in a rich black lacquer.
Tom Lee blades are hand forged and tempered beyond other brand swords of this price range to a standard of hardness to withstand mild abuse and appropriate cutting targets.
