Description
Hanwei Qi Jian Sword
A rare opportunity to own this sword is now available.
The Hanwei Qi Jian, crafted by renowned swordsmith Paul Chen, is a modern re-creation of an ancient Chinese sword design, exemplifying exceptional craftsmanship and historical significance.
Design and Construction:
This sword is meticulously forged from a single billet of steel, extending seamlessly from the pommel to the tip. This one-piece forging technique not only ensures unparalleled strength and balance but also allows the sword to emit a clear, bell-like tone when struck—a characteristic celebrated in Chinese folklore.
Historical Significance:
With Paul Chen’s Hanwei sword forge now permanently (as of December 2024), this sword was originally a limited edition piece of craftsmanship. The Hanwei Qi Jian ceased production around 2010, making this very popular sword, very hard to come by indeed. The Qi Jian derives its name from the Qi nation, one of the warring states that eventually unified into modern China. According to legend, Feng-Xuan, a notable figure from the Qi people, possessed a similar one-piece sword and would use its resonant quality to accompany his singing.
