The Thrill Grey Titanium is an ultralight, classic folding knife from the esteemed Italian manufacturer, LionSteel, renowned for its innovative Solid® technology. This knife exemplifies advanced technological craftsmanship, featuring a SlipJoint mechanism (“no lock”) that is crafted from a single piece of material. Designed to handle most cutting tasks, it is socially considerate and legal in the majority of countries.
The knife is the creation of the respected Italian designer Michele Pensato, known as Molletta, who brings a fresh perspective to materials and experiments with heat treatments, alongside the use of advanced design software.
The blade is made of M390 Microclean®, a top-tier modern powder steel known for its exceptional corrosion and wear resistance. Produced by Böhler Edelstahl in Austria, this high-chromium steel, alloyed with vanadium, achieves a hardness of 59-61 HRC.
The SlipJoint mechanism utilizes spring pressure against a flat notch on the blade’s back, ensuring stability in both folded and unfolded positions, requiring applied force to move the blade. An IKBS ball bearing system enables smooth and fast blade deployment, while the Drop Point blade design delivers outstanding cutting geometry. The plain-edged blade features a Full Flat Grind with a satin matte finish and opens via a double-sided nail nick.
The handle, crafted in solid titanium 6AI4V using CNC-machined Solid® Knife technology, forms a lightweight, monolithic structure of superior strength. Its gray surface features a textured, non-slip grip for enhanced handling. The innovative H.WAYL (Hide What Annoys You Lionsteel) system includes a concealed right-side pocket clip that allows tip-up carry. The clip retracts with the push of a button, ensuring it doesn’t hinder extended use—a feature highly valued by users.
