Takeda Shingen (December 1, 1521 – May 13, 1573) was daimyo of Kai Province during the Sengoku period of Japan. Known as “the Tiger of Kai”, he was one of the most powerful daimyo of the late Sengoku period, and credited with exceptional military prestige. Shingen was based in a poor area with little arable land and no access to the sea, but he became one of Japan’s leading daimyo. His skills are highly esteemed and on par with Mōri Motonari.
The Hanwei Japanese kabuto & menpo (helmet & face mask) are superbly constructed, beautifully detailed and a great value. This kabuto replicates the helm of the great Samurai Takeda Shingen, and features brass, lacquer genuine cotton thread and real horse hair. This piece is equipped with leather liners (ukebari) allowing them to be worn. The museum-quality reproductions of these archaeological treasures have been hand crafted by the metal smiths of Hanwei with exacting historical attention to detail. The helmets are fully wearable and are supplied with a custom designed solid wooden display stand.
