Description
There are two primary types of straight bladed swords used in China. One type, known as the Wu Jian or “Martial Sword,” is characterized by its substantial length and weight. The other, called a Wen Jian or “Scholar’s Sword,” is notably lighter. After extensive study of historical texts and instructional videos on both types, we have chosen to craft our own Gim (Wu Jian) tailored for dedicated collectors and practitioners of Chinese Martial Arts.
The blade of our Wu Jian is forged from 1060 Carbon steel, measuring 30 inches in length and 1â…› inches in width. Both edges are finely honed, tapering to a robust, practical point. The guard and pommel are crafted in a traditional style from thick, durable brass, fitting securely onto a sturdy Rosewood handle that combines ornamental beauty with functional utility. The Gim Sword is complemented by an exceptional wood scabbard featuring brass throat, chape, and sword rings, designed for convenient belt suspension or shoulder sling carry.
