This listing is for the Colichemarde Sword (CS88CLMS). The Colichemarde Dagger (CS88CLMD) is available separately. The Colichemarde sword emerged in the late 1600s, during the transition from the Rapier to the small sword. Its distinctive blade design, which is extra wide at the forte and narrows for the rest of its length before ending in a point, allowed it to parry even the heaviest weapons without breaking while remaining light and agile for quick thrusts.
Cold Steel president Lynn C. Thompson has long admired the Colichemarde’s versatility. In collaboration with Dave Baker, we created a modern interpretation that stays true to the original design. Our blade features an extra-long and wide forte that tapers sharply to an acute point. The hilt boasts a decorative yet functional double shell guard, finger loops, and knuckle bow, with a fully wire-wrapped grip capped with a matching pommel. Additionally, we have designed a matching dagger with a stiff, beautifully polished blade, double quillons, and wire-wrapped handle.
